Big Girl's Bed

"The time has come," the walrus said, "to think of many things." Namely, what the heck is going to happen tonight, when Scarlett sleeps in her big girl's bed for the first time? Tune in for details! As we require Scarlett's cot for the new baby, and want S to have some time to get used to the idea, we thought we'd better get our skates on and put the bed together.

Love Ikea, but there's a reason you can pay them extra to assemble things for you - it's a complete pain in the ass to do it yourself! We were given the bed from some friends of ours, however they are currently in Canada and we couldn't find the assembly instructions. Hooray for the internet, as I managed to find them, only to discover we didn't have all the screws. Fortunately we had enough handyman stuff left over from Dad's last visit to Singapore to rustle something up.

Anyway, in my 'nesting' phase of this pregnancy, I envisaged a mosquito net with butterflies (no, being rational doesn't come into the nesting phase) above her bed. Again, we managed to pull something together!

When Scarlett saw the finished product she said, "Wow!!!" so we're pleased with that! Upon testing it out, it seemed that she knew what to do, but we'll have to wait until tomorrow before the true soporific effects of the bed (or lack thereof) are known.
