Fun at the Gardens

I know it's hard to believe, but we really did have the perfect flight home. More to the point, our little ones were absolute stars, this despite a 1 hour delay while the air conditioning was fixed. Of course Murphy's Law dictates that either this will never happen again, or that we will be smacked about with reality whilst in NZ. As we have yet to step foot on another plane, we are suffering rather badly with sleeping issues for both kids. This having had 2 kids who slept beautifully in Singapore...

Take last night for example: Scarlett had a nightmare around 2, for which Miles had to go in to her room and stay with her for a long while until she calmed down. Griffin woke around 3:30am with a blocked nose, noisily soiled his pants and then demanded a feed. Not to be outdone, Scarlett started wailing, having been woken up by Griffin's cries. We left her and she went back to sleep around 5 minutes later. Griffin then woke me up at 5:30am, thrashing about and noisily sucking his thumb. Thankfully he went back to sleep until 7am, by which time Scarlett also awoke. We found Scarlett lying down on the floor, so she had obviously fallen out of bed some time during the night, as she had done the previous 2 nights. We didn't hear any loud thumps - probably because we had put a duvet and a pillow down there as a precaution! Sigh. 2 kids = hard work.

It has left me asking many times why we have put ourselves through this torture. As soon as I see the pictures of our NZ visit so far, my question is answered. Scarlett and Griffin are having a wonderful time with wonderful friends and family. Below are some photos of Scarlett's first trip to the Hamilton Gardens. The poor ducks are only just recovering.
